Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the RecordLog mobile app, provided by DATALOG PTY LTD. It explains how the current version of RecordLog handles information when you create an account, create projects, capture photos, add records and export PDFs.

RecordLog uses Firebase Authentication for account creation and sign-in. The account information involved is your email address, chosen display name and Firebase user ID (UID). Firebase Authentication also handles verification and password-reset emails. RecordLog does not place a readable password in its Firestore project records or local app preferences.

When you create a project, RecordLog stores project information such as its name, optional location, creation time, photo count, status and GPS setting. For saved photos, RecordLog may store the image record, title, notes, photo number, capture time, GPS information where enabled and available, a SHA-256 hash, local app-file information and a Firebase Storage download URL. Names, locations, titles, notes and photos may contain personal information depending on what you enter or capture.

RecordLog may request location permission for Camera features. While the Camera is active, the app may obtain device location. When GPS is enabled for a project, coordinates may be attached to and stored with captured photos. When project GPS is off, RecordLog does not persist GPS coordinates with new photos. You can also decline or revoke location permission in your device settings.

RecordLog uses Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Firebase Storage, operated by Google, for account and cloud-record features. Saved photos are kept in durable app storage on your device and queued for cloud synchronization. If connectivity is unavailable, pending synchronization can resume later. Generated PDFs are also stored in the app’s documents area on your device.

DATALOG PTY LTD uses this information to authenticate accounts, create and organise project records, save and display photo metadata, generate PDFs, provide sharing features and maintain the app’s core functionality. DATALOG PTY LTD does not sell personal information.

RecordLog generates PDFs locally from project and photo information in the app, including available local image files. It then passes the PDF to your device’s system share sheet. RecordLog does not receive the destination or recipient you select after the file is handed to the system share sheet; the privacy practices of the receiving app or service apply to that sharing.

RecordLog has no automatic retention schedule. When you delete a photo or project, the app removes it from your visible records and queues any required cloud cleanup. When connectivity is available, RecordLog removes associated Firestore records, Firebase Storage images and applicable local app files. If cleanup cannot complete immediately, RecordLog retains the deletion request and retries later. PDFs that you have separately saved or shared are not automatically removed by deleting the related project.

RecordLog uses Firebase services and your device’s operating-system protections to provide its features. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. The current app code does not include Firebase Analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, payment-processing or subscription SDKs.

You can control location permission, sign out, and delete photo or project records using the available in-app controls. Account creation is intended for adults under the RecordLog Terms. For privacy or account help, contact DATALOG PTY LTD.
