Your Data Stays Yours

RecordLog does not sell your personal data. We collect only what is necessary to provide the App's features. You remain in control of your records at all times.

1. Who We Are

RecordLog is a photo documentation app developed and operated in Victoria, Australia. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, contact us at recordlogapp@gmail.com.

2. What We Collect

RecordLog collects the following information when you use the App:

Account information — your email address and display name when you create an account
Photos and records — images you capture using the App, along with associated metadata including timestamps, GPS coordinates where enabled, notes, and titles
Device information — basic device and operating system information for crash reporting and performance monitoring
Usage data — anonymised information about how features are used, to help us improve the App

We do not collect payment card details. Payments are handled securely by Apple via the App Store.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely to provide and improve RecordLog's features:

To store and sync your projects, photos, and records across your devices
To generate and export PDF reports
To provide GPS and timestamp tagging where enabled
To authenticate your account and keep it secure
To diagnose crashes and fix bugs

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties.

4. GPS and Location Data

GPS location is optional. It is only collected when you enable the GPS Location toggle for a project. When enabled, your device's GPS coordinates are captured at the moment each photo is taken and stored alongside that photo record. GPS data is never collected in the background. You can disable GPS at any time by turning off the toggle when creating a project.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using Google Firebase, a cloud infrastructure service. Data is stored in the Australia Southeast region. We take reasonable steps to protect your data, including encrypted transmission and secure authentication. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for backing up any records you wish to retain.

6. Third-Party Services

RecordLog uses the following third-party services to operate:

Google Firebase — authentication, database, and storage
Apple App Store — app distribution and payment processing

These services have their own privacy policies. RecordLog is not responsible for the data practices of third-party providers.

7. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be removed from our systems within a reasonable period. Exported PDFs saved to your device are not affected by account deletion — those remain on your device under your control.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Withdraw consent for GPS collection at any time by disabling the GPS toggle

9. Children's Privacy

RecordLog is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of RecordLog after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
